Morty & Bob's - All Day Dining Cafe

So who is Morty?

Morty was one of our founder’s grandfathers‭, ‬and one half of the hardworking inspiration behind Morty‭ ‬&‭ ‬Bob’s‭. ‬A proud Canadian and Navy man‭  (‬where he learned to love a todd‭ ‬of rum‭) ‬and a natural gift for entrepreneurship‭. ‬He built a hospitality linen laundry company‭, ‬a greengrocery wholesaler‭, ‬and a‭ ‬bustling lunch spot in Montreal’s financial district‭. ‬Married to Billie‭, ‬he was never far from a golf course or bowling alley‭ (‬he even kept his own bowling shoes‭, ‬since no alley stocked his size 13.5‭). ‬At restaurants‭, ‬he couldn’t resist feeling the thread count of the tablecloth as soon as he sat down‭. ‬And he always started with soup‭ ‬‮—‬‭ ‬but if it wasn’t hotter than the sun‭, ‬he’d let them know‭.‬

A little bit about bob

Bob‭, ‬alongside Morty‭, ‬was our founder’s other grandfather‭ ‬‮—‬‭ ‬the second half of the hardworking inspiration behind Morty‭ ‬&‭ ‬Bob’s‭. ‬In the 1960s and 70s‭, ‬he was a wholesale greengrocer director at Old Spitalfields Market‭. ‬Later in life‭, ‬if he went missing in the supermarket‭, ‬you’d usually find him checking the ripeness and origin of the melons‭. ‬

At home‭, ‬he loved a pint of bitter at his self-built bar and doted on his‭ ‬‘girl crew’‭ ‬‮—‬‭ ‬wife Jean and their two daughters‭. ‬He never missed an opportunity to throw a party or make a speech among friends‭. ‬Bob’s energy and love of hosting continue to inspire the welcoming spirit‭ ‬of Morty‭ ‬&‭ ‬Bob’s today‭.‬‬

Meet Charlie

Charlie started at the very bottom — peeling potatoes all day before working his way up to the front line in some of London’s top restaurants. After time spent alongside leading chefs, he turned his attention to street food, and that’s where Morty & Bob’s was born: a festival and market stall serving honest, hearty food. Over the past ten years it’s grown organically into three all-day spots. Charlie’s goal has always been the same — to create a ‘home-from-home’ where everyone can hang out from sunrise to candlelight. Whether you’re grabbing a morning coffee or settling in for a three-course meal, all are welcome. ‬‬
